I truly can’t believe this but it is time for school again. The ABCJLM curriculum officially starts on Monday. Remember – the curriculum can be used anytime throughout the year – but…for holidays to match up, it is optimal to start on Monday.
Here are nine points that I suggest to help your year get off to a great start!
1) Gather all of the supplemental supplies (books, games, Bible) needed – put all needed books on hold at the library or order from Amazon, Christianbook.com or other supplier
2) Print off the lesson plans and worksheets -or- Order them in book form or order the curriculum for your Kindle
3) Gather or make supplies for activities and crafts
4) If you have decided to use flannelgraph to tell the Bible stories, cut out the flannelgraph Bible characters needs for the stories
5) Print off the Objective Checklist so that you have a good idea of what is known and objectives that need to be focused on
6) Prepare a “School Zone” so that you have all of the supplies needed and minimal distractions – also make sure that it has good lighting and a desk that is appropriately sized for your child(ren)
7) Look over the the Week’s Lesson Overview and other helpful hints to help you Get Started
8) Join the ABCJLM Facebook Group and Forum as well as follow this blog so that you can ask any questions and read what others are doing
9) Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your time
Important: Please understand that I am constantly adding and rewriting info on the ABCJLM website. While you may find this frustrating please understand that the changes and additions that I make are to help you! So, please check the website and blog along with the weekly lesson plans to read the many ideas added or rewritten!

Starting the School Year
Getting Ready
What are you doing to prepare for the first week of ABCJLM preschool?
Rhianna Garber says
This will be my first year doing something this organized with my daughter. I taught Kindergarten for 5 years and I'm feeling that come back to me a little. I've got my lessons ready and in folders for each day with the books and supplies that I'll need. Thank you for providing this. I think my daughter is going to love it…and it get's me back into teacher mode, which I loved.

We are making a folder for each area of study (i.e. #s, ABCs, etc.) so that as I have time I can print the weeks activities in each area and pull from them as we have time to work on each activity that is planned for the week. On the outside of the folder, I am making notes. For example on the #s folder I have written the number rhymes (0 = Around, around, around you go. That's the way to make zero).
