Ideas to Fill "Halloween" with Light

Want to see a group of Christians become divided?  Bring up the topic of Halloween.  Those on both sides of the aisle are passionate about their views.  While I can see points from both sides, I do believe that Halloween can be an opportunity share God's love to those around you.

Several ideas to help you do this have been listed on the ABCJesusLovesMe "Falloween" page.  All of the suggested activities can be used by a church or family to witness to their neighborhood.

Find ideas on carving pumpkins, books to read, activities, and craft.  Also find out what to do with the mountain of candy collected.

Here are a few of the ideas:

Being Like a Pumpkin
Author Unknown
Being a human being is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up,
takes you in, and washes all the dirt off of you.
He opens you up, touches you deep inside
and scoops out all the yucky stuff--
including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc.
Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside
you to shine for all the world to see.
The Pumpkin Patch Parable - A precious book to read with preschool or elementary aged children of how God chooses us just like a farmer chooses a pumpkin.

"Walk Through the Bible" Falloween Night

(Original Source Unknown)Present the Bible and provide treats and gifts that correspond with the Bible stories. This idea could be used to invite the community in or as a simple Sunday School activity. You could also do this in a preschool or private school setting.
This is how it works:
At each station, have people dressed up to match the particular Bible story that they will tell. After a short overview of the story, give the children a individually wrapped package of each item to represent the story. Have the children cycle through the stations.

Stories and Corresponding Treats and Gifts:
Noah's Ark - Skittles (rainbow), animal crackers
Daniel in the Lion's Den - Lion's Teeth (vampire teeth)
Christmas Story - Starburst or Baby Ruth
Jonah or Feeding the 5000- Goldfish
Revelations (2nd Coming) or Walls of Jericho - Bugles
Creation - Oreo (day and night), Glow Bands (light), animal crackers
Lord's Prayer - pretzels
Good Samaritan - band-aid
Psalms 119:105 - glow bands
Wordless Book - M&M's
Jesus - lifesaver

Various Bible Stories - Sticker Sets, Individual Sticker Sets
